References to rosemary were found in cuneiform writing dating from around 3200 BC. This form of writing used cane or grass as a writing instrument and clay or stone tablets as a writing medium. Cuneiform is a writing system originally developed by the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia, which roughly corresponds to the modern countries of Iraq, Kuwait, the eastern parts of Syria, southeastern Turkey, and the regions along the Turkish-Syrian and Iran-Iraq borders .

The taste of the rosemary spice is slightly refreshing, woody, mentholated and somewhat balsamic, with a strong aroma. It is also a warm and slightly peppery spice. Rosemary is part of the spice cabinet and has a distinct, strong aroma that convinces the palate. It is often used in delicate soups or lightly sprinkled on vegetables. Rosemary can be used as a sophisticated accent with just two or three dustings, providing a subtle flavor in mundane sauces or pastries. Its taste works exceptionally well with beef, chicken, fish, lamb, pork, beef and wild game.
Rosemary is a spice found in bread recipes, cream cheese, cream sauces, herbal vinaigrette, marinades, sauces, salad dressing, soups, especially eggplant and potato, steaks and sauces.
